The Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant manages and supports the company’s daily financial operations. This includes record-keeping, reporting, processing transactions and payments, and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. The role also assists the Finance Manager in budgeting and financial planning and helps maintain the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage full accounting function up to management accounts.
Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and control accounts.
Handle payments, receipts, and monthly bank reconciliations.
Import reports from external systems into the accounting system and bank.
Oversee debtors and creditors (reconciliations, payments, follow-ups).
Record daily transactions, prepare and process journals.
Assist in calculating VAT, EMP201, EMP501, etc.
Process payroll and assist with payroll administration.
Maintain the fixed asset register.
Assist with internal and external financial reporting.
Perform other reasonable ad-hoc tasks as needed.

Key Requirements:

Experience in financial services is an advantage.
Strong verbal and written communication in both English & Afrikaans.
Proficiency in Excel (advanced), Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to build professional relationships.
Skilled in problem-solving and issue resolution.
Experience with general ledger, month-end processes, and accounts receivable/payable.
Hands-on experience managing full accounting functions.
Knowledge of Sage Evolution or at least 3 years in Pastel or similar financial software.
Knowledge of Payspace is advantageous.
Self-motivated, responsible, and able to take initiative.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Willingness to work extra hours when necessary.

Pay: R20 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month

Bookkeeping / Accounting: 3 years (Required)

Language:

fluent Afrikaans (Required)

License/Certification:

Qualification in Accounting or related field (Required)
