Full Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Bookkeeper to join our school team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reporting requirements, and ensuring that financial administration is handled efficiently and professionally.

This role requires someone who is trustworthy, able to work independently, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
Capturing and reconciling bank statements
Monthly accounting management report
Processing creditors and debtors
Managing supplier invoices and payments
Following up on outstanding accounts
Assisting with cash flow tracking and reporting
Payroll assistance and related administration
VAT calculations and submissions support
Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
Assisting management with financial reports and ad hoc administrative duties
Liaising with accountants, suppliers, and service providers when required

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper
Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification advantageous
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial administration
Experience with accounting software (Pastel)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
High level of integrity and confidentiality

Advantageous

Experience in payroll processing
Previous experience in an educational or school environment would be highly advantageous
Experience in property or SME environments
Experience with SARS submissions and compliance processes
