position of School Nurse. The School Nurse plays a vital role in promoting, protecting, and
maintaining the physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing of students and staff. The
successful candidate will provide professional nursing care, emergency response, health
promotion, medication management, sports injury support, safeguarding assistance, and strategic
healthcare leadership within the school community. This position requires a highly organised,
compassionate, and proactive individual committed to creating a safe, healthy, and supportive

Minimum Requirements:
- Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Valid practising certificate.
- Minimum 2–5 years’ nursing experience (school or paediatric experience advantageous).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Previous experience within an educational environment.
- Valid Dispensing Licence or eligibility to obtain one.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- ICT competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital health record systems

Clinical Care and Student Health Management:
- Provide first aid, primary healthcare, and nursing care to students and staff.
- Assess and manage illness, injury, and medical emergencies.
- Develop and maintain individual healthcare and emergency action plans.
- Support students with chronic medical conditions.
- Manage communicable diseases and infection prevention measures.
Sports Injury Management and Rehabilitation:
- Assess and manage sports-related injuries.
- Coordinate Return-to-Learn and Return-to-Play programmes.
- Liaise with parents, healthcare providers, coaches, and staff regarding student recovery.
- Support injury prevention initiatives.
Medication and Health Management:
- Safely store, administer, and document medication.
- Maintain medication records and monitor stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and school policies.
Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding:
- Support students experiencing physical, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Participate in multidisciplinary support meetings.
- Facilitate referrals to healthcare professionals and specialist services.
- Promote child protection and student wellbeing.
Health Promotion and Education:
- Coordinate health awareness and wellness programmes.
- Promote preventative healthcare and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Deliver age-appropriate health education initiatives.
First Aid and Emergency Preparedness:
- Lead the School First Aid Team.
- Maintain emergency equipment and supplies.
- Arrange first aid training and contribute to emergency drills.
- Coordinate medical support for school events, sports fixtures, camps, and tours.
Occupational Health and Safety:
- Manage workplace injuries and COID-related processes.
- Participate in health and safety audits and risk assessments.
- Support compliance with health and safety legislation.
Administration and Reporting:
- Maintain confidential healthcare records.
- Compile reports and statistical information.
- Monitor health trends and support preventative programmes.
- Manage the Health Centre budget and resources.
