Full Job Description

About the role

The Print Shop is hiring an Inventory Controller & Bookkeeper for our Durban North operation - a dual-discipline role split between running the stock room and keeping the company's financial records tidy. You will own day-to-day stock control across our printing materials (paper, inks, vinyl, substrates, finishing) AND manage the books - AP, AR, bank recons, monthly reporting - supporting our accountant on VAT and PAYE.

If you're analytical, process-driven and like seeing your KPIs improve month-on-month, this is the role.

What you'll do - Inventory side

- Maintain accurate stock records in our CRM (Vtiger); perform regular counts, reconcile discrepancies

- Run FIFO stock rotation, set par levels, reorder before shortages hit production

- Pick materials against job cards; QC-check; label and stage for production (incl. night shift)

- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries against POs; chase suppliers on outstanding POs

- Track ink / toner usage per machine per job; report waste, forecast reorders

- Compile daily machine click-count reports across the digital press fleet; flag anomalies for maintenance / billing

- Keep the warehouse clean, organised, locked, and laid out for efficient access

What you'll do - Bookkeeping side

- Maintain the general ledger; record day-to-day transactions; reconcile bank + credit-card statements daily

- Process and follow up on debtors - send statements and invoices monthly, chase overdue accounts

- Manage creditors - process vendor invoices, schedule payments, reconcile vendor statements

- Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow reports - and explain the WHY behind the numbers

- Prep VAT and PAYE for the accountant; assist with internal / external audits

- Maintain a clean, audit-ready filing system

Must-have

- 2+ years' inventory / stock control in print, manufacturing, warehousing or similar production environment

- 2+ years' bookkeeping experience (AP, AR, bank recons, monthly reports)

- Comfortable with inventory / CRM software and bookkeeping software (Pastel, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar)

- Solid Excel / Google Sheets

- Comfortable working Mon-Fri 08:00-17:30 + Saturday mornings

- Based in Durban / able to commute to Durban North daily

- Detail-orientated, methodical, comfortable owning KPIs

Advantageous

- Print industry exposure (digital presses, large-format, signage, finishing)

- VAT / PAYE preparation experience

- Vtiger CRM (or another inventory module on a CRM platform)

- Experience tracking click counts or machine-level usage analytics

We're a full-service branding, printing and signage company in Durban North - large-format, signage, copy centre, DTP and a busy 24-hour digital press operation. Small enough that your work is visible; serious about quality, deadlines and accurate numbers.

Hours: Mon-Fri 08:00-17:30 + Saturday 08:00-13:00
