Unlock Your Potential! We have an exciting opportunity for Production Intern (Fixed Term Contract – 12 months) to join our team at our Durban Tea Factory in KwaZulu Natal. In this role, the Production Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor while learning to manage production plans, demands, and staff. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical individual eager to grow into a fast-paced management role in the future

Key Performance Areas:

Production Scheduling & People Management
-
Participate in the weekly production and labour planning.
-
Streamlining the processes, find opportunities to optimize the lines and processes.
-
Engage with all stakeholders (production, engineering, quality, tea department and quality).

Delivery and Data Analysis:
-
Improve data accuracy in the factory
-
Shopware navigation and improve quality of information recorded.
-
Analyse production data
-
Analyse rework and make improvements where required
-
Usage variances root causes identified and preventative measures implemented weekly.
-
Support the implementation of Autonomous Maintenance
-
Quality:
-
Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards
-
Quality at source system understood and managed in the factory
-
Good Manufacturing Practices understood and achieved
-
Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Customer Complaints Investigations done on time and actions for preventative reoccurrence implemented immediately.

System Management & Operations reporting:
-
Monitor daily performance and analytics reports for the production team
-
Conducts 5s and Gemba Compliance and checks done daily and weekly
-
World class and Continuous Improvement :
-
Participate in productivity initiatives in the factory

Participate in the Changeover Reduction Projects
-
Support in implementation of 5s in the factory
-
Manage Visual Boards, conduct checks for verification and identification of areas to improve.
-
Support in developing quick-fix routines for production-related downtime.
-
Drive small Continuous Improvement (CI) projects (Capex Projects support)
-
Conduct and lead problem-solving sessions to find root causes and preventative measures.
Qualifications:
-
3-year Tertiary qualification: Production Management/ Operations Management/ Chemical Engineering
