Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Rosebank, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As Driver (Site) your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Safety, Health, and Environment:
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental practices and requirements.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safet Actions.
Performance and Delivery:
- Transport employees and consultants to and from the airport.
- Transport team members to and from work sites for inspections.
- Inspect fleet vehicles regularly.
- Escalate two months in advance to the next level of authority when the vehicle licence is due to expire.
- Arrange servicing and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
- Manage vehicle license renewals.
- Transport nurses, medical personnel, and trainers to contractor laydown and work areas as needed.
- Fulfil general delivery tasks and meet the needs of the Transport & Facilities team as a driver.
This role is in Commercial (CML) department on a Band P5 (B-Upper) level reporting to the Section Manager Transport & Facilities.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 /N3 Technical
- SA Driver’s Licence EC (Code 14) with PDP
Technical Knowledge
- 5 years of operational experience as a driver on the mine.
- Understanding South African road safety laws and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with local and regional routes and traffic patterns.
- Awareness of mine protocols for transportation and deliveries.
