Full Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Web Developer to design, build, and maintain the digital systems for Bethel Publishing House South Africa.

This is a monthly contract role responsible for both initial development and ongoing maintenance of websites and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities Website Development (South Africa Branch)

Design and build the Bethel Publishing House South Africa website
Ensure professional, modern, mobile-friendly design
Build structured pages for services, books, and enquiries

Book & Author Pages

Create individual book landing pages for publishing titles
Build conversion-focused pages for book sales and enquiries
Ensure each book page is professional and functional

Online Store Development

Build and manage an online bookstore for Bethel Publishing House
Ensure smooth browsing and purchasing experience
Organise book listings and categories

Payment Integration

Integrate South African payment gateways such as:
PayFast
Ozow
Ensure secure and functional checkout systems

Business Email Setup

Create and configure professional business emails
Connect emails to domain and website contact forms
Ensure proper email functionality across systems

Website Maintenance

Maintain all websites (SA branch and related pages)
Fix bugs, update content, and ensure uptime
Implement updates and improvements when required

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who:

Has strong web development experience (WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, or custom development)
Understands e-commerce and online payment systems
Can build and manage multiple business websites
Has experience with domain setup and hosting
Is reliable, structured, and detail-oriented
Can work independently with minimal supervision

Publishing or e-commerce experience is an advantage.

Key Requirements

Proven web development experience (portfolio required)
Ability to build full business websites and online stores
Experience with payment integrations (PayFast, Ozow, etc.)
Knowledge of domain and email setup
Own laptop and reliable internet connection
Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines

⏱ Work Structure

Monthly contract role (not per task, not retainer-based billing)
Remote (South Africa-based preferred)
Ongoing development + maintenance responsibilities
Work delivered based on agreed priorities and deadlines

Compensation

Fixed monthly payment: R20,000 per month

Included in Company Responsibility (NOT deducted from salary):

Domain registration and renewals
Website hosting costs
Payment gateway fees
Third-party software/subscriptions

The developer is only responsible for execution and technical delivery.
