What you'll do

Break work into pieces an agent can execute and you can verify
Review a high volume of generated code and catch the plausible-but-wrong
Debug systems you didn't write line by line
Build the guardrails that make speed safe: tests, types, linting, CI
Own what ships. "The agent wrote it" isn't a defence
Bring back what you learn about where the tools break

What we need

Real software fundamentals - data structures, APIs, databases, and the ability to reason about correctness, performance and failure modes
Debugging ability. You can find the cause, not just the symptom
Strong code review instincts. The highest-leverage skill on this team
Git, CI/CD and command-line comfort
Testing discipline - you don't trust code you haven't verified
Clear writing. Vague instructions produce vague software
Honesty about uncertainty. "I don't understand this yet" is a feature

By level

Junior: solid fundamentals and evidence you build things. Portfolio, personal projects or coursework is fine - we'll teach the workflow.
Mid: 3+ years shipping production code, and you've already worked this way on something real.
Senior: you can design systems, set standards for how the team works with agents, and mentor people through the shift.

Bonus points

Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar agentic tools
Print industry experience - prepress, PDF/PostScript workflows, colour management, variable data printing, web-to-print, or print MIS
Familiarity with MCP or tool integrations
Open-source contributions
