Full Job Description

Avery Foods (Pty) Ltd is a South African food manufacturing company specializing in the production of edible oils and related food products. We are seeking reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individuals to join our production team as Factory Machinery Operators. Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

Operate edible oil refinery and extraction machinery.
Start up, monitor, and shut down production equipment according to operating procedures.
Maintain continuous production while ensuring product quality standards are met.
Perform routine cleaning of machinery and production areas.
Report equipment faults, breakdowns, or safety hazards to supervisors.
Follow production schedules and work instructions.
Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of raw materials and finished products.
Carry out basic machine inspections before and during operation.
Maintain accurate production and cleaning records where required.
Adhere to food safety, hygiene, quality assurance, and workplace safety procedures.
Wear the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Perform any other reasonable duties related to production operations.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks.
Willing to work overtime, weekends, or shifts when operational requirements demand.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to learn and follow company procedures.
Previous factory or manufacturing experience will be advantageous but is not essential.

Training

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to successful candidates. No previous machinery operating experience is required.

Employment Conditions

Employment will be in accordance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 75 of 1997 (BCEA) and other applicable South African labour legislation. Overtime will be worked only when operationally required and will be compensated in accordance with the BCEA where applicable.

Employees must comply with the company's occupational health and safety rules, food safety standards, hygiene procedures, and all lawful workplace instructions. Avery Foods is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 (OHSA).
