As we continue to expand our patient community at our vibrant Roodepoort branch, we are looking for a passionate, patient-focused Dental Therapist to join our team. Key Responsibilities
As a Dental Therapist at Toothworx, you will work within your HPCSA-defined scope of practice to deliver exceptional preventative and restorative care. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Clinical Care: Performing routine check-ups, comprehensive scaling and polishing, fluoride treatments, and fissure sealants.
- Restorative Treatments: Administering local anaesthetics, treating dental caries by placing direct composite restorations (fillings), and performing uncomplicated extractions.
- Diagnostics: Taking and interpreting digital intra-oral and panoramic X-rays to assist in treatment planning.
- Paediatric Focus: Creating a fun, educational, and anxiety-free environment for children, helping them build lifetime positive oral health habits.
- Patient Education: Empowering patients with personalized oral hygiene instruction, dietary advice, and post-treatment care plans.
- Practice Collaboration: Seamlessly co-managing complex cases by referring patients to the principal dentist when treatments fall outside your scope.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Dental Therapy (B.Dent.Ther.) from a recognized South African university.
- Professional Registration: Active, independent registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dental Therapist.
- Indemnity: Valid professional indemnity insurance cover (e.g., SADA, MPS, or similar) advantageous.
- Experience: 1–3 years of private practice experience is highly advantageous, but passionate clinicians completing their community service are welcome to apply.
- Skills & Attributes:
- A gentle, empathetic clinical chairside manner (crucial for dental-anxious patients and children).
- Excellent communication skills in English (multilingualism, particularly in local Gauteng languages, is a major plus).
- Comfortable utilizing modern dental equipment and digital practice management systems.
- A strong team player who embodies transparency and ethical patient care.
