Primary purpose of the job
To direct, manage and control channel strategies and plans, in all aspects by providing appropriate leadership and promoting good relations with all stakeholders in support of the overall channel strategy, plans and objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Direct and control the work and resources of the channel and ensure the on-going recruitment and retention of the required numbers and types of well-motivated, trained and developed staff to ensure that it achieves its mission and objectives.
- Prepare annual channel business plan and monitor progress against this plan to ensure that the channel attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management, to keep them aware of developments within the industry, and to ensure that the appropriate policies are developed to meet the channel’s mission and objectives and to comply with all relevant statutory and other regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the channel is providing the appropriate range of Products and quality of services.
- Direct and maintain programmes to ensure that the channel remains at the forefront of its sector, apply the most cost-effective methods and approaches, and provides the required range and quality of products and services.
- Prepare, gain acceptance, and monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximized and that costs are optimised.
- Working Capital management within the channel and ensuring effective Credit & Debtor management processes are followed and complied with.
- Direct and maintain an effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services and image of the channel in the wider community.
- Represent the channel in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the channel.
- Direct and maintain total quality management systems throughout the channel to ensure that the best possible products and services are provided to customers and/ or clients
- Direct the implementation of equal opportunities policies in all aspects of the channel.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual report and accounts of the channel and ensure their approval, As well as the various monthly reports as required.
- Develop and direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the channel complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.
Manage Stock
- Ensure that optimum stock levels are adhered to.
- Ensure monthly stock takes and report variances.
- Review and analyse sales and check that minimum stock levels are adequate.
- Maintain relationships with external suppliers.
- Ensure that external suppliers adhere to division’s quality standards and competitive price.
Manage Customer Support
- Ensure that customer support staff is fully trained and capable of supporting the customer adequately.
- Ensure customers maintain standards set by division.
- Maintain contact with customers through personal visits and telephone on a regular basis.
- Ensure all customer details are complete and kept up to date on CRM.
- Ensure regular training programmes for Contractors, Architects & Engineers.
Manage Equipment Support/Supply
- Ensure that equipment is operating at peak performance and maintenance schedules are maintained.
- Identify sub-contractors for repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure equipment contracts are kept up to date.
PROCUREMENT RESPONSIBILITY:
- Ensure that adequate Raw Material and Steel Trading stocks are maintained.
- Procurement of Raw Material as per the Business Plan and Group Guidelines
- Ensure equipment contracts are kept up to date.

Qualifications required:
Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor / Bachelor of Technology / Engineering or equivalent Qualifications
Qualifications as an added advantage: Post Graduate Business Management Qualifications will be an added advantage

Experience required:
- General work experience (years): 20+ years
- Specific to the position (level/discipline/Years):10 years with multiple Branch oversite Industry: Manufacturing, Industrial Sales
Computer literacy:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with ERP systems Sap (Advantage)
