- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma (Electrical Engineering) and/or relevant trade tested qualification
- 3-4 years working as a Programmer/Automation Engineer in a Automotive manufacturing environment
- Team Lead / Supervisory experience
- Siemens S7 Programming
- Siemens (Software; TIA Portal, Step 7 Classic)
- Scada Programming & Dieffenbacher experience - highly advantageous
Maintenance Management:
- Analyse and interpret Breakdown Reports (Manufacturing downtime, Top 10, etc.)
- Diagnose plant and equipment problems (fault finding) and identify opportunities to modify, upgrade, improve or replace equipment and spares, especially on PLC’s
- Maintain register of all electrical hardware on site and backups of all installed software
Maintenance Process (Scheduled):
- Receive Maintenance Schedules, interpret instructions and plan maintenance and repair work
- All PLC’s installation, repair and maintenance activities
- Inspect the equipment and determine spares and consumables requirements
- Conduct Preventive Maintenance activities
Electrical Maintenance:
- Design and construct Single and Three Phase Circuits
- Connect and commission three-phase direct on line motor control systems
- Install and commission electrical measuring instruments and control devices
- Diagnose and repair faults on equipment during production/operation
- Commission assemblies / machines
- Refurbish machines / equipment
- Troubleshoot on programmable logic controllers
- Update electrical drawings as required
Instrumentation Maintenance:
- Design, compile/convert PLC Software Programmes
- Prepare Technical Specifications for Instrumentation equipment (Standardisation of Hardware, Software, etc.)
- Advise Procurement on technical matters (Suitability of Supplier, Technology, etc.)
- De-bug or troubleshoot PLC Software Programmes
- Construct Basic Electronic Circuits
- Design Instrumentation panels
- Maintain instrumentation equipment (Flow; Level; Pressure; Temperature; Intrinsically safe apparatus)
- Maintain controllers, Specialized Sensing Devices, analytical equipment, recorders and process control loops
- Fault find and repair equipment (Flow; Level; Pressure; Temperature; Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC`s); Analytical; Variable speed drives)
- Identify and specify, Install, Program and commission of VSD systems
- Carry out soldering and de-soldering procedures
- Audit PLC and HMI hardware and software and advise on potential redundancy or problems
- Proficient in Siemens Software; TIA Portal, Step 7 Classic
Maintenance Process (Post Maintenance):
- Test and commission machinery or equipment prior to handover
- Complete the Planned Maintenance Schedule (Work completed, work not completed, spares used, spares not available, time taken, observations, problems, etc.)
- Identify any other work required (including additional spares)
- Clean up after completion of job and inform the responsible person that the maintenance has been completed to the required standard
Engineering Projects
Project Initiation:
- Contribute to project initiation, scope definition and scope change control
- Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budget for a project or sub project and monitor and control actual cost against budget
Project Planning:
- Schedule project activities to facilitate effective project execution
- Monitor, evaluate and communicate project schedules
Project Management:
- Work as a project team member
- Determine resources (labour and materials) required
Continuous Improvement:
- Keep up to date with latest developments/technologies in Maintenance
- Identify areas for improvement
- Develop and implement continuous improvement interventions
Reporting:
- Analyse Maintenance Reports and identify opportunities for improvements
- Complete Maintenance Time Sheets (nature of work, time spent to repair, and material/spares used)
