The Lecturer in the Master of Digital Marketing programme is responsible for delivering high-quality, industry-relevant instruction at NQF Level 9. The role demands a practitioner-academic who can bridge rigorous scholarly theory with cutting-edge digital marketing practice, inspiring postgraduate students to think critically, research independently, and lead digital transformation in their organisations.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of module content, assessment, and the student learning experience. The content for all modules has been developed, with each lecturer expected to prepare their teaching materials from developed content.
Teaching & Module Delivery
- Prepare and deliver engaging, intellectually stimulating workshops at NQF Level 9.
- Develop and maintain module content, learning materials, presentations, and reading lists that reflect current industry practice and scholarly research.
- Facilitate meaningful discussion, debate, and critical inquiry in postgraduate learning environments.
- Integrate real-world digital marketing case studies, industry tools, and live campaigns into module delivery.
- Ensure all content aligns with the programme's exit-level outcomes.
2. Assessment & Student Development
- Design, set, and mark formative and summative assessments including assignments, case study analyses, tests, and examinations.
- Provide timely, constructive, and detailed feedback that supports student academic growth and professional development.
- Supervise Mini Dissertation or Research Project students where applicable, guiding them from topic selection through to final submission and oral defence.
- Identify and support at-risk students through early intervention and referral to appropriate academic support services.
- Uphold academic integrity standards and address plagiarism in accordance with institutional policy.
3. Curriculum & Academic Contribution
- Contribute to the ongoing review, development, and improvement of module content and programme curriculum.
- Engage in scholarly activity, professional development, and industry practice to maintain subject currency.
- Collaborate with fellow lecturers and the Dean of Faculty on inter-module coherence and student progression.
4. Administration & Compliance
- Maintain all module content, assessments, and results on the institutional learning management system (Moodle).
- Adhere to assessment moderation processes, grading deadlines, and academic calendar requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, orientation sessions, and institutional events as required by the Dean of Faculty.
- Requirements:
- A Master's degree (NQF Level 9) or higher in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Marketing Communication, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years' professional experience in digital marketing, with demonstrable expertise in one or more specialist areas (SEO/SEM, social media strategy, content marketing, e-commerce, programmatic advertising, or digital analytics).
- Proven experience in postgraduate or higher education lecturing, facilitation, or academic instruction.
- Strong understanding of SAQA, CHE, and NQF accreditation requirements at Level 9.
