MACHINE SETTER
PIMMS Group is looking for a skilled and experienced Machine Setter to join our plastic injection moulding manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and optimising injection moulding machines to ensure efficient production, quality output, and minimal downtime. The role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To ensure effective machine set-up, adjustment, and operation of plastic injection moulding machines to achieve production targets, maintain product quality, and reduce machine downtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and prepare injection moulding machines according to production requirements.
- Install moulds, adjust machine settings, and ensure correct operating parameters.
- Set and monitor temperatures, pressures, cycle times, and machine settings.
- Perform start-ups, changeovers, and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently.
- Ensure products meet required quality specifications and production standards.
- Troubleshoot machine, mould, and process-related issues.
- Make necessary adjustments to improve production efficiency and reduce rejects.
- Work closely with mould changers, production operators, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Conduct regular machine checks and report defects or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with mould trials and new product start-ups.
- Complete production records, check sheets, and documentation accurately.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards in the production area.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 / Matric (Maths and English)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Machine Setter in a plastic injection moulding environment.
- Injection Moulding plastic setting certificate.
- Knowledge of injection moulding machines, mould installation, and process settings.
- Experience with machine start-ups, changeovers, and fault finding.
- Understanding of plastic materials, moulding processes, and quality requirements.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret production instructions and specifications.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends when required.
