Vacancy: Evaluation Supervisor

Division: Evaluation Smelter Sampling

Job Grade: C-Lower

Job Type: Permanent

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this role is to ensure accurate capturing and allocation of incoming customer material in the Receiving Yard. The role will also be responsible for ensuring high-quality, timely, consistent and representative sampling of customer material and ITM’s as well as driving continuous improvement.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

Ensure accurate receiving, capturing, and allocation of material.
Maintain accuracy and precision in weighing, sampling, and sample preparation processes.
Implement and monitor sampling protocols aligned to business requirements.
Conduct stock evaluation and metal balance control activities.
Perform technical investigations and reporting.
Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with SHEQ, quality, and safety standard.
Address non-conformances and support audit processes.
Review and optimise sampling technologies and systems.
Generate and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Ensure timeous submission of operational reports.
Perform SAP and physical reconciliations of material.
Train, coach, and mentor sampling personnel.
Communicate with internal stakeholders and external customers regularly.
Coordinate with supervisors, teams, and external consultants.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A completed Matric qualification.
A Tertiary qualification (Degree or B-Tech Diploma) in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant working experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Intermediate proficiency—Microsoft suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word), MES and SAP system.
Strong communication and analytical thinking skills
Ability to lead teams and work independently.
Coaching, mentoring, and training capability.
Planning and organising ability.
Strong analytical and technical reporting skills.
Interpersonal and networking skills.
Adaptability and resilience under challenging conditions.
Time management and problem-solving capability.

KNOWLEDGE:

In-depth knowledge of AMIRA Code, Theory of Sampling, Sampling and sample preparation processes.
Technical knowledge of physical and chemical properties of Gold, Silver, and PGMs.
Knowledge and working experience of Weighing techniques and related equipment.
Knowledge and working experience of Statistical data analysis.
