To operate heavy-duty front-end loading machinery to move, stockpile, and load bulk materials (such as raw waste, recyclables, or aggregates). The role is essential for maintaining yard flow, feeding production hoppers, and ensuring that bulk transport vehicles are loaded efficiently and safely in accordance with site requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Bulk Material Handling
- · Efficiently moving and stockpiling bulk materials to maximise yard space.
- · Loading outbound bulk trailers and feeding production intake hoppers accurate
Equipment Care & Safety
- · Performing daily pre-operation inspections (fluids, tyres, hydraulics) and logging results.
- · Maintaining the machine’s cleanliness and reporting any mechanical defects.
Yard Maintenance
- · Ensuring the yard surface remains level and clear of debris to prevent tyre damage to other vehicles.
- · Managing stockpiles to prevent cross-contamination of different material grades.
OHS Compliance
- · Operating the vehicle within speed limits and following strict site traffic flow patterns.
- · Adhering to all health and safety protocols to prevent yard accidents.
Skills and Competencies:
- Vigilance: High level of situational awareness to navigate a busy yard with moving pedestrians and vehicles.
- Precision: Ability to load vehicles to specific weight capacities without overloading.
- Reliability: Consistent performance to ensure production lines never run out of raw material.
- Diligence: A meticulous approach to daily machine checks to ensure operational longevity.
- Heavy Machinery Operation: Expert proficiency in operating front-end loaders and associated attachments.
- Mechanical Sympathy: Understanding machine limits to prevent unnecessary wear and tear on hydraulic systems.
- Safety Standards: Full understanding of OHS Act requirements regarding heavy mobile plant machinery.
Minimum Requirements and Experience:
- · Minimum: Grade 12.
- · Essential: Valid Front-End Loader Operator Certificate/License (TMM License).
- · Advantageous: Valid Code 14 (EC) Driver’s License.
- · Required: 3–5 years of experience operating heavy plant machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- · Specific Knowledge: Experience in "feeding" production plants or loading high-sided bulk trailers.
Position Details:
- Working Hours: Shift Based - 45 Hours a Week and willing to work overtime.
Basic Remuneration: R8 500.00
Pay: R8 000,00 - R8 500,00 per month
