Job Purpose
To plan, lead, and control all maintenance and engineering activities specifically related to hotel rooms and immediately
associated guest areas. The role ensures all rooms, corridors, and related guest-facing infrastructure are maintained to the
highest 4-star standard — fully operational, safe, compliant, and impeccably presented to support exceptional guest
satisfaction. This is a focused role on room-specific maintenance, with close collaboration on cross-functional issues.
Essential Requirements of the Post
Qualifications
Management Certificate.
Minimum 4 × N3 Technical NQF Level certificates.
Experience
At least 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor in a similar-sized operation.
Extensive hands-on experience with:
Desalination plants.
Plumbing, sewerage treatment systems, and water treatment systems.
Electrical (light current).
Refrigeration.
Building and general maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using maintenance management systems (e.g., Monday.com, MS Teams).
Budget management and cost control experience.

Key Performance Indicators (Summary) Performance will be measured against targets such as:
100% compliance and inspection pass rates.
≥99.5% room asset uptime / availability.
Emergency response ≤1 hour; standard maintenance response ≤4 hours.
Average ≤2 rooms per day due to maintenance.
≤40 corrective maintenance requests per month.
Budget adherence (≤5% overrun).
High guest satisfaction with minimal maintenance-related complaints.
Effective records management and system usage (Monday.com / MS Teams).
Special Conditions
Shift work, weekends, public holidays, and overtime may be required.
