Communica is recruiting for a Gardener at the Samrand Head Office.
Gardener plays a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic, environmental, and functional value of all outdoor areas. Responsibilities include planting, nurturing, and pruning a wide variety of plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees. Additionally, the Gardener is responsible for lawn care, pest management, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and staff. This position demands a strong knowledge of horticulture and landscaping best practices, as well as a keen eye for detail and a commitment to sustainability and plant health. The Gardener contributes to creating a serene, visually appealing environment that enhances the overall experience of the facility
Minimum Requirements
- Matric.
- Formal training or certification in horticulture, landscaping, or gardening would be an advantage.
- At least 12 months to 2 years of experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance to understand the seasonal and practical demands of plant care.
- Horticultural Knowledge: Basic understanding of plant biology, soil health, pest management, and seasonal plant needs.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in the use of gardening tools (hand pruners, shears, rakes, etc.) and machinery (lawnmowers, trimmers, and sprinkler systems).
- Safety Protocols: Knowledge of grounds safety practices, chemical use in pesticides/fertilizers, and first aid for handling equipment.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work independently, attention to detail, time management, and basic problem-solving abilities.
Pay: R5 500,00 - R5 800,00 per hour
