Full Job Description

Job Purpose

To accurately capture and reconcile all bank transactions, process receipts and payments, maintain cashbook records, and provide administrative support to the Finance Department while ensuring compliance with company policies and financial controls.

Key ResponsibilitiesCashbook Administration

Capture daily bank transactions accurately into the accounting system.
Process receipts, payments, deposits and electronic fund transfers (EFTs).
Maintain and update the cashbook on a daily basis.
Ensure all transactions are supported by valid source documentation.

Bank Reconciliations

Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve unreconciled items promptly.
Report discrepancies to the Finance Manager.

Accounts Administration

Assist with allocating customer receipts.
Process supplier and customer refunds where authorised.
Assist with petty cash reconciliations.
File financial documentation accurately for audit purposes.

Financial Controls

Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
Identify irregularities and escalate management concerns.
Support internal and external audit requirements.

Reporting

Assist with preparing daily cash position reports.
Provide supporting schedules during month-end processing.
Assist Finance with ad hoc reporting requirements.

General Administration

Maintain accurate filing systems.
Assist with general finance administration.
Provide support to the Finance Department during month-end and year-end processes.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by Management.

Minimum RequirementsQualifications

Grade 12 (Matric) – Essential.
Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Finance (Advantageous).

Experience

0–2 years' experience in a finance or accounting environment.
FMCG experience advantageous but not essential.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Excel (Intermediate).
Microsoft Word.
Outlook.
Experience on Sage or similar ERP system advantageous.

Knowledge

Basic accounting principles.
Cashbook processing.
Bank reconciliations.
Financial administration.
Document control.
Internal financial controls.

Competencies
