Description

The Department of Social Work (DSW) at the University of the Free State seeks to recruit competent individuals to facilitate skills training for small groups of students at the University. Facilitators play a vital role in the "pedagogy of social work," helping students transition from theoretical classroom learning to practical field experiences.

Confirmation of employment in the form of a letter, appointment contract, service certificate, or recent payslip from your current or most recent employer (applicable to external applicants only).

Duties and responsibilities:

Facilitate skills training for assigned small groups (between 15 and 20 students).
Prepare thoroughly for group facilitation sessions in line with the year group study guide.
Mark designated assignments, including oral assessments and specific reports (excluding fieldwork process reports for certain year groups).
Maintain complete and accurate assessment records for each student’s performance.
Organise and facilitate oral assessments for assigned groups.
Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions with the Field Instruction Coordinator and the Department.

Inherent Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Social Sciences on NQF Level 8.
Active registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker (attach proof).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience as Social Worker.
Proficiency in social work supervision models (e.g., Process Model, Developmental Perspective).
Proven ability to assist during normal working hours.
Relevant permission from the current employer/HOD to conduct additional work (attach proof).

Recommendations:

Passion for social work education and professional, ethical conduct.
Prior experience in student facilitation or supervision.
Knowledge of the specific theories taught by the UFS Department of Social Work.

February to October Contract (Renewable yearly based on performance)
