The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace.
This position serves as Lead Mechanical Engineer
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering scope for projects, ensuring alignment with technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to mechanical engineers and designers within the team.
- Review and approve mechanical design deliverables, including specifications, calculations, datasheets, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, civil / structural and control systems to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Coordinate with project engineering management to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and presentations .
- Oversee vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and review of supplier documentation.
- Ensure quality assurance and adherence to company engineering procedures and best practices.
- Support construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as required.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design within EPC, mining & metals projects.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role managing engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment design, and applicable international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, SANS).
- Experience with engineering software and tools relevant to mechanical design and analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight project schedules.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- ECSA registration
- Prior experience working in large-scale international projects or within Fluor or similar EPC organizations.
- Familiarity with advanced engineering tools, digital engineering platforms, and data-driven design practices.
- Demonstrated experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder management.
- Experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent within a structured environment.
