Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and improvement of plant equipment and manufacturing processes. This role aligns engineering activities with strategic goals to optimize production capacity, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement, while managing capital budgets and developing staff capabilities.
Accountabilities
Preventive Maintenance:

Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

Regularly update and revise preventive maintenance schedules as needed.
Team Coordination and Communication:
-
Supervise and support a team of direct reports, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

Act as the point of contact for maintenance-related issues, providing timely communication to all relevant stakeholders.

Work Order Management:

Create, track, and close maintenance work orders in a timely manner.

Ensure proper documentation of all completed maintenance activities, including materials used, time spent, and resources required.
Inventory Management:

Monitor and manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.

Ensure availability of necessary parts for routine and emergency repairs, while minimizing excess inventory.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination:

Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, services, and equipment procurement.

Ensure contractors adhere to company policies and safety standards.
Budget and Cost Control:

Develop, own and manage the site maintenance budget.

Monitor and report on maintenance expenses, ensuring cost-effective practices.
Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry standards.

Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols during maintenance tasks.
Data Analysis and Reporting:

Compile and analyze maintenance data, identifying trends, recurring issues, and areas for improvement.

Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.

Recommend and implement best practices for maintaining equipment and facilities.
Maintenance Scheduling and Planning:

Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all equipment, machinery, and facilities.

Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency, safety, and production needs.

Ensure minimal downtime by coordinating routine and emergency maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, trade tested Millwright (Red Seal), GCC advantageous
- Experience: 10 years in a manufacturing industry preferably in FMCG, out of which at least 3 years in a supervisory role
