Logistics Coordinator
Position Description
The Barrick Africa & Middle East Team are seeking to recruit a Logistics Coordinator to join the Regional Team. The purpose of the role is to coordinate all outbound logistics movements to assigned AME mine sites and international logistics, managing freight booking, logistics documentation, shipment tracking, customs-document verification and delivery confirmation for all goods dispatched from the hubs and countries.

Responsibilities:
Run all outbound shipping for the corridor or sites in your remit, seeing each load through from hub dispatch to arrival at the mine.
Produce, action and keep on file the full documentation set - purchase orders, delivery notes, commercial invoices, packing lists, transport paperwork, airway bills and bills of lading, certificates of origin and proof-of-delivery records.
Check every document for accuracy before submission.
Arrange carrier bookings that balance how urgently a load is needed against cost.
Monitor all live consignments and keep the Control Tower tracker current with status and expected arrival times.
Act as the communication link between suppliers, transporters and transit hubs.
Confirm that customs paperwork, permits and supporting records are correct ahead of lodgement, and work with destination-country brokers to move goods through clearance.
Align with the hub’s physical operator on how loads are consolidated and when they leave.
Sort out freight discrepancies, damage claims and short-shipment queries, making sure proof-of-delivery records are captured and stored.
Keep freight spend efficient, flagging any out-of-pattern charges to the Logistics Manager.
Qualification Requirements:
Experience and Skills Requirements:
3–5 years in freight forwarding, logistics coordination or shipping operations.
Knowledge of sub-Saharan African logistics corridors (DRC/Zambia/Tanzania/Mali experience strongly preferred).
Customs documentation and import/export process knowledge, including East African (Dar es Salaam) corridors.
SAP and freight tracking system proficiency.
High attention to detail, with the ability to check logistics, customs and shipping documentation accurately.
Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
Cost awareness and the ability to balance urgency, service levels and freight spend.
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in resolving shipment delays, documentation errors, damages, discrepancies and short shipments.
Clear and proactive communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, transporters, brokers, hubs and mine sites.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, operational environment.
