We are seeking a qualified, goal-driven and self-motivated Dialysis Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team.
Purpose of the Role
The Dialysis Practitioner delivers safe, high-quality, evidence-based, and person-centred dialysis care in accordance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, the practitioner promotes care coordination, shared decision-making, and patient self-management to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and the overall patient experience.
The role supports clinical governance, quality improvement, and continuous learning by adhering to organisational policies, participating in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives, monitoring clinical and patient-reported outcomes, and applying evidence-based practice to enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of care across the patient journey.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree leading to registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) or Clinical Technologist (Independent Practice) registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Post Basic Diploma in Nephrology Nursing would be advantageous.
Experience
- 1–2 years' dialysis experience in a haemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis unit.
- Experience operating dialysis equipment and water treatment systems.
- Experience in managing chronic kidney disease patients.
- Experience in patient education and counselling.
- Experience in quality improvement and risk management principles.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of relevant healthcare legislation and professional standards, including:
- National Health Act
- POPIA
- Health and Safety legislation
- SANC/HPCSA ethical rules and scope of practice
