To manage, control and allocate aircraft materials and tools to match operational requirements on a shift basis and ensure appropriate prioritization is established to satisfy those requirements in an AOG situation. Responsible to ensure the accuracy of inventory accounting and recording in the stores, and that all zero stock and urgent material requests are available as quickly as possible, under the most economical conditions for the entire fleet maintained by SAAT.
1. To ensure on a shift basis that all stock, urgent material and tool requests are available timeously in order to maintain on time performance in line with customer schedules and regulatory requirements as per SLAs and quality standards. This include the maintenance of an accurate inventory record of all stock and components in the stores.
a) Plan and allocate resources to accomplish maintenance requirements as defined by the customer’s schedule.
b) Manage and guide AOG desk and stores operations including sourcing of Components and material for AOG locally, regionally or globally in support of SAAT and its clients’ operations.
c) Responsible to ensure continuous review of activities for the line planning functions and ensure stock is available to meet SAAT and its third party customer’s expectations.
d) Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the customer SLAs and/or contracts and deviations are recorded and charged.
e) Ensure optimum and efficient usage of resources (materials, tools and equipment) to reduce costs and improve turnaround times.
f) Ensure that all stock in the main stores is adequately accounted for i.e. physical and AMOS balances are in sync at all times.
g) Ensure that all physical stock movements during the shift period are timeously updated in AMOS to ensure the integrity of inventory recording and accounting.
h) Co-ordinate with storeman, receiving and issue counter for immediate processing of AOG parts. Following up with all parties to ensure that the parts are delivered and minimize any impact to the operation.
i) Manage and provide initial decision filter, for the 24-hour point of contact with operators for loan in or out exchanges to support AOG situations for both SAAT’s operations globally and reciprocally for other operators operating into South Africa.
j) Ensure timeous delivery of materials to maintenance lines including line stations in accordance with maintenance schedules and forecasts.
k) Responsible to ensure AOG desk handover is provided to all the related stakeholders on a daily basis. To ensure all stakeholders can make informed decisions on critical material availability and its impact on operations.
l) Ensures prompt action is initiated to resolve Quality and H&S findings allocated to AOG desk to meet Supply Chain targets.
m) Produce operational reports to track cost and efficiency.
n) Accomplish all reasonable requests from Line Manager.
2. Implement and oversee the tooling and equipment utilisation in line with SAAT procedures.
a) Escalate the tooling and equipment unavailability timeously to mitigate the risk of AOG’s.
b) Control the usage of vehicle and other equipment during shift.
3. To enforce compliance to Quality Standards and Regulations in order to minimise SAAT’s exposure to risk
a) Enforce adherence to all regulatory, safety and compliance requirements whilst on shift.
b) Maintain delivery of work in line with the relevant regulatory requirements and where required, activate contingency plans in place to reduce risk for the operation.
c) Continually seek ways to improve performance, efficiencies and maximize the use of resources.
d) Manage the shift and keep it at the required standard of health and safety and comply with policies and procedures, as well as client SLA’s
e) Participate in safety training and awareness campaigns in order to ensure that staff are kept up to date
f) Contribute to awareness to safety, health and environmental regulations so as to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
g) Ensure that all staff regulatory training is up to date.
4. Maintain customer satisfaction at the highest possible level
a) Ensure clear and correct information is communicated to all departments & stakeholders timeously. i.e. delay reports, post flight departure reports. etc.
b) Keep the customer updated at all times in accordance with the applicable technical handling contracts and service level agreements. i.e. AOGs
c) Resolve complaints, queries and manage risk. Escalate to the Line Manager where required.
5. To manage the section’s human resources in line with SAAT’s HR policies and procedures
a) Responsible for ensuring a health and safety culture is embedded within the section. Personnel performance and training requirements are identified and action plans developed to maximize the department’s performance.
b) Responsible to ensure staff are compliant to SAAT Quality, Code of Conduct, SH&E Regulations and Requirements.
c) Develop performance contracts for all direct reports in line with the Material Control & Logistics department’s objectives, conduct performance appraisals to measure productivity and meet objectives.
d) Initiate appropriate Labour Relation action where necessary.
e) Motivate subordinates to ensure high morale and improve productivity
f) Maintain regular staff meetings and feedback sessions.
