Are you an early-career database professional with a strong technical mindset, attention to detail and a genuine interest in building capability across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, ETL and operational database support?
Rewardsco is looking for a Junior Database Engineer to support the administration, maintenance and monitoring of our database environments across development, testing and production.
This role is ideal for someone with 1-3 years' experience in database administration, database support or production support who wants to grow within a fast-paced BPO technology environment, working closely with senior database, development, infrastructure and production support teams.
You will play an important support role in helping maintain database availability, performance and reliability across Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, while assisting with ETL processes, database changes, monitoring, documentation and operational issue resolution.
What you'll be responsible for:

Assist with the day-to-day administration of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.

Support database backups, restore monitoring and scheduled job execution.

Assist with database deployments, updates, changes and script implementation.
-
Monitor database health, performance and availability using database monitoring tools.

Respond to alerts, failure notices and escalation requests to support production stability.

Troubleshoot database-related incidents and escalate complex issues where required.

Support database environments across development, testing and production.
-
Assist with configuring and refining monitoring tools and alerts to reduce false positives.

Support proactive maintenance activities, environment checks and scheduled database jobs.

Assist with ETL development, maintenance and support of data movement processes.

Support data extraction, transformation and loading requirements across business systems.

Assist with reporting-related database support and data availability requirements.
-
Support system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives across database and reporting environments.

Maintain accurate database documentation, configuration records and operational notes.

Support database-related work across Windows Server, Linux, cloud-based and hybrid database environments.

Assist with performance monitoring, capacity monitoring and technical consistency across the database estate.

Adhere to change control, security and operational governance processes.

Work closely with Development, Infrastructure and Production Support teams to support operational stability.
Requirements

Technical knowledge and experience:
-
1-3 years' experience in a database administration, database support or production support environment.

Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, or an equivalent qualification.
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases, including basic administration, monitoring and troubleshooting.

Exposure to ETL tools and processes such as SSIS or Apache Airflow, including data extraction, transformation and loading support.

Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.

Exposure to cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP would be advantageous.

Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as SQLSentry, Kibana, Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf or similar tools would be advantageous.

Relevant SQL or Database Administration certification would be advantageous.
-
PostgreSQL, ETL/Data Integration, Cloud, Windows Server, Linux, monitoring tools or scripting training would be advantageous.
