About the Position
Africa Artisan Services is looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Machine Bending Operator to join our team on a temporary basis.
The temporary employment period will provide the company with an opportunity to assess the candidate's practical skills, technical knowledge, accuracy, work ethic and ability to operate CNC bending machinery safely and efficiently.
Candidates who demonstrate the required level of competence and are a good fit for the company's operational requirements may be considered for permanent employment following the temporary assessment period.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC press brake/bending machines.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and measurements.
- Select and install the correct tooling for bending operations.
- Program and/or adjust CNC machine settings according to job requirements.
- Accurately measure and inspect completed components.
- Ensure bends, angles, dimensions and tolerances meet drawing specifications.
- Perform machine setup, adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
- Identify and correct dimensional or bending inaccuracies.
- Work with various types and thicknesses of sheet metal and plate.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Conduct routine checks of machinery and tooling.
- Minimise material wastage and ensure efficient production.
- Report machine faults, production issues or quality problems to the supervisor.
- Complete work within required production schedules and quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
- 3–4 years or more relevant experience operating CNC bending/press brake machinery.
- Proven practical experience with CNC bending machines.
- Ability to read and understand technical/engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of measurements, angles, dimensions and tolerances.
- Ability to perform machine setups and make adjustments.
- Knowledge of different materials and their bending characteristics.
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as verniers, tape measures and other relevant inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Temporary Assessment Period
The successful applicant will initially be employed on a temporary basis.
During this period, Africa Artisan Services will assess the candidate on:

- Ability to meet required tolerances and specifications.

Permanent employment may be offered to candidates who successfully demonstrate the required skills, knowledge, performance and suitability for the position.
Working Environment
The successful candidate will be required to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment in Germiston, South Africa, where they may be required to work with machinery, sheet metal, plate and other industrial materials.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a production environment and complying with all applicable safety requirements.
