Our organisation operates a high-volume grocery retail business with multiple supermarket branches across the Durban region, driving our FMCG footprint. We are seeking a motivated and energetic Operations Intern to join our existing team.
As an Operations Intern, your primary purpose will be to support the day-to-day operations of the business while gaining practical exposure to various aspects of FMCG retail management. You will work closely with operational and departmental managers to ensure that company standards, operational controls, and customer service objectives are achieved.
You will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Critical Outputs
- Assisting with the daily operational activities of the store.
- Monitoring stock availability and supporting stock management processes.
- Assisting with merchandising, displays, and promotional execution.
- Supporting department managers in maintaining operational standards.
- Monitoring compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational controls.
- Assisting with stocktakes and inventory control activities.
- Supporting receiving and dispatch functions where required.
- Assisting with operational reporting and data analysis.
- Monitoring productivity and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Assisting with customer service initiatives and resolving customer queries.
- Supporting health and safety compliance within the store environment.
- Assisting with workforce planning and operational scheduling where required.
- Participating in management projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting various departments to ensure smooth business operations.
- Performing general administrative duties related to operational activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related qualification.
- Computer literate with a sound understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
