ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Provincial Manager is responsible for the comprehensive leadership and management of all operations within the assigned province, ensuring the achievement of strategic objectives in line with the Public Servants Association (PSA) mission. This multifaceted role includes overseeing the recruitment and retention of members, enhancing service delivery, managing labour relations, and driving social responsibility initiatives. In addition to managing all activities linked to the Labour Relations Officers, Organising Marketing Officers, Members Affairs Coordinators, Receptionist & Office Assistant, a key aspect of this role is the direct oversight of full-time shop stewards, and shop stewards within the province, ensuring alignment with PSA’s objectives and performance standards. The Provincial Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the smaller staff complement in satellite offices, ensuring operational efficiency, effective member service, and the attainment of provincial goals. This role involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including members, media, business partners, and legislative bodies, while advocating for public servants at both provincial and national levels. The Provincial Manager plays a crucial role in driving PSA's growth, operational excellence, and market share within the province, while fostering a high-performance environment for staff development across the main and satellite offices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, Business Management, or a related field.
Work experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a management or leadership role within the public sector, labour relations, or a unionised environment.
- 3 years managerial experience including staff management, performance monitoring, training, and development.
- Proven experience in membership recruitment and retention within an organisation or union.
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, overseeing financial operations, and resource allocation.
- Strong background in labour relations, including collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
