Learning & Development Officer
Department: Human Resources
Reporting to: HR Manager / Head of HR
Location: Head Office with regular travel to stores
Role Purpose
To design, implement, and manage learning and development initiatives that enhance employee performance, support business objectives, and build capability across stores and head office. The role focuses on retail excellence, product knowledge, customer service, and leadership development within the beauty and wellness environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Needs Analysis
- Conduct ongoing training needs analysis across stores and departments
- Partner with Area Managers and Store Managers to identify skill gaps
- Align training plans with business goals, sales targets, and operational requirements
2. Training Design & Development
- Develop and update training materials (manuals, e-learning, SOP guides)
- Create engaging programmes for:
- Product knowledge (beauty, skincare, wellness)
- Customer service excellence
- Sales techniques and upselling
- Store operations and compliance
- Ensure content is aligned with brand standards and customer experience expectations
3. Training Delivery
- Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions across multiple stores
- Deliver induction and onboarding programmes for new employees
- Conduct refresher training and upskilling workshops
- Support the rollout of new product launches and promotions through training
4. Performance & Capability Development
- Support performance improvement initiatives through targeted training
- Assist managers in developing Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Coach store teams on service standards and sales behaviours
- Identify high-potential employees and support talent development initiatives
5. Learning Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate training records and attendance registers
- Track training completion and effectiveness
- Prepare monthly training reports and insights for HR and leadership
- Monitor ROI and impact of training programmes on sales and service metrics
6. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all mandatory training (health & safety, SOPs, policies) is completed
- Support audit readiness through proper documentation and training compliance
- Align training practices with best practice frameworks such as those from the Association for Talent Development
7. Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with HR, Operations, and Marketing teams
- Collaborate with suppliers/brands for product training support
- Build strong relationships with store teams to drive training adoption

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field
- 2–4 years’ experience in Learning & Development (retail experience preferred)
- Experience in beauty, wellness, or FMCG retail training is advantageous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
- Exposure to Learning Management Systems (LMS) is beneficial
Retail-Specific Requirements
- Willingness to travel frequently between stores
- Ability to work retail hours when required (including weekends for training rollouts)
- Passion for beauty, wellness, and customer experience
- Strong understanding of in-store operations and sales environments

Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per day
