Full Job Description

Job Specification: Bookkeeper/Accountant (Manufacturing)

Position: Bookkeeper / Accountant

Industry: Automotive Manufacturing

Reporting to: Financial Manager

Accounting System: SYSPRO (Essential)

Role Summary: The Bookkeeper / Accountant will support the finance function within an automotive manufacturing environment, with responsibility for cashbook processing, creditors, debtors, inventory-related accounting, reconciliations and month-end support.

The role requires strong hands-on SYSPRO experience and a reasonable accounting knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cashbook & Bank

Prepare payment runs and load payments on bank for approval.
Daily Processing: Download and capture daily bank statements into the SYSPRO Cashbook module.
Reconciliations: Perform full bank reconciliations for all company accounts, ensuring all "open items" are cleared promptly.

2. Accounts Payable (Creditors)

Capture supplier invoices and match against Purchase Orders and Goods Received Notes (GRN).
Reconciliations: Prepare monthly creditor reconciliations to ensure all supplier statements align with the age analysis.
Payment Runs: Prepare weekly/monthly electronic fund transfer (EFT) batches for approval for group companies.

3. Accounts Receivable (Debtors)

Allocations: Accurately allocate incoming payments against specific invoices.
Interaction with customers debtor departments

4. Inventory & Stock Control

Assisting with the verification of cycle counts
Stock movement checks and processing.
Costing: Assist the Financial Manager in reviewing Bill of Materials (BOM) and identifying fluctuations in raw material costs.
Obsolescence: Identify and report on slow-moving or obsolete stock.

5. General Ledger & Compliance

Journals: Capture month-end journals, including depreciation, accruals, interest and prepayments.
VAT: Prepare the VAT 201 calculations and ensure all transactions are VAT compliant.
Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, including ensuring all assets are tagged.
Audit Preparation: Assist the Financial Manager in preparing the audit file for external audits.

6. Other

Prepare reports and schedules as required.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Accounting/Finance.
SYSPRO Expertise: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience. You must be comfortable with the Cashbook, Creditors, Debtor and Inventory modules.
Accounting: Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
Industry Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is non-negotiable. (Automotive preferred)
Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency to handle complex stock reports.

Behavioural Competencies

High attention to detail.
Process-Oriented: An understanding of the internal control environment (e.g. knowing why a GRN must match an invoice).
Take initiative.

Pay: R15 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
