Role Purpose
To lead the security engineering team in delivering secure, resilient, and efficient technology solutions through effective people leadership, operational excellence, resource management, continuous improvement, and alignment with business and cybersecurity objectives.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (Advantageous), Cybersecurity, or related field

Relevant industry certifications (advantageous), e.g.:

CISSP / CISM
-
ITIL Foundation or equivalent
-
Vendor certifications (Fortinet, Okta, Microsoft, Netskope)
Experience Required
-
7–10 years’ experience in IT security or infrastructure environments
-
5–10 years in a people management / line management role
-
Proven experience managing:

Security operations and incident response
-
Cross-functional engineering teams
-
Enterprise security platforms (Firewall, Endpoint, CASB, Identity)
Duties & Responsibilities
Resource & Capacity Management
-
Own resource planning and allocation across security engineering initiatives and products
-
Align team capacity to priority business and security outcomes
-
Continuously balance BAU operations vs project delivery demand
-
Ensure optimal utilisation of security engineers across:
-
- Firewall platforms (Fortinet , Cloudflare , Guardicore)
- Endpoint Protection (Crowdstrike , Trellix)
- CASB / SWG Products (Netskope)
- Identity platforms (Okta, Active Directory)
- Network Access Control capabilities (Forescout)
- Load Balancing / SSL Offloading , Domain & Certificate Management
- Email Security
- Public Cloud Security (AWS , Azure)
Operational Leadership & Escalation Management

Act as L3/L4 escalation point for critical incidents across security & infrastructure domains

Ensure rapid resolution of security incidents and service disruptions
-
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement actions , problem management
-
Maintain operational runbooks, escalation paths, SLAs, OLAs , Governance and Compliance reporting
Service & Ticket Management
-
Oversee ticket queues, backlog health, and SLA adherence
-
Ensure consistent incident, request, and problem management practices
-
Introduce and enforce operational metrics and reporting (MTTR, backlog aging, SLA compliance)
-
Drive automation and efficiency in ticket handling
-
Use of Observability to manage tech stacks (key monitoring , visibility , playbooks , self healing , automation)
People & Line Management

Direct line management of security engineering staff

Set clear performance objectives aligned to delivery outcomes

Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and regular check-ins
-
Work closely with Product Owners to allocate and manage engineering capacity

Foster a high-performance, accountable, delivery-driven culture
Skills Development & Training

Define and maintain team training and certification plans

Identify skills gaps across key platforms and technologies

Build capability uplift plans aligned to strategic security roadmap

Promote cross-skilling to improve team resilience and flexibility
Talent Sourcing & Workforce Planning

Lead recruitment and onboarding of security engineering resources

Partner with vendors and HR to source specialist skills where required

Maintain a forward-looking workforce strategy aligned to technology roadmap
Governance & Continuous Improvement

Ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and operational procedures

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across platforms and processes

Support audit, regulatory, and risk management requirements

Provide regular reporting to leadership on operational health and risks
