Full Job Description

Paul Michael Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in the shopfitting and wood manufacturing industry. We are looking for a driven, hands-on and results-focused Factory Manager to lead a busy production facility and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a strong background in shopfitting, joinery or wood manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all factory and production operations.
Ensure production schedules are achieved in line with project deadlines.
Coordinate workflow between Production, Supervisors, Project Managers, Procurement and Installation teams.
Drive productivity, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor manufacturing costs, material usage, waste and supply chain efficiencies.
Maintain exceptional quality control standards throughout production.
Lead, mentor and manage factory staff, including performance management, training and development.
Interpret technical drawings and ensure production requirements are accurately executed.
Oversee material planning and procurement requirements.
Manage factory machinery, equipment maintenance and overall operational readiness.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
Resolve production challenges quickly and implement practical solutions.
Assist in implementing systems and processes to improve overall factory performance.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric).
Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or a related field (advantageous).
8–10 years' experience in a Factory or Production Management role.
Essential: Previous experience within the Shopfitting, Joinery or Wood Manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Experience implementing and managing quality control systems.
Valid South African driver's licence.
South African citizen.

Strong administrative and computer skills (Excel, Word and Outlook).
AutoCAD or similar drawing software experience will be advantageous.
High levels of ownership, accountability and professionalism.
