Kitchen Griller / Grill Cook
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Kitchen Griller to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of meat preparation, grilling techniques, and products suitable for open-flame cooking. This role requires a versatile individual who can confidently operate within the grill section while also assisting in other areas of the kitchen when required.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality food, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, and following kitchen procedures and management directives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, season, and cook a variety of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, and other products using open-flame grilling methods.
- Ensure all grilled items are prepared to company quality standards, specifications, and presentation requirements.
- Monitor cooking temperatures and cooking times to ensure consistency and food safety.
- Assist with food preparation, stock rotation, and mise en place as required.
- Support other kitchen sections during busy service periods or when operationally required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the grill station and surrounding kitchen areas.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and labelling of food products.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, health, and safety regulations and protocols.
- Work efficiently during peak service periods while maintaining attention to detail.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing stock when required.
- Report equipment faults, stock shortages, or quality concerns to management promptly.
- Follow all instructions and operational procedures provided by kitchen management and supervisors.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Grill Cook, Griller, Chef de Partie (Grill Section), or similar kitchen position.
- Strong knowledge of various cuts of meat and their appropriate cooking methods.
- Understanding of grilling techniques, temperature control, and open-flame cooking.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to different kitchen stations when required.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and evenings as required.
