Paul Michael Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a well-established client in the shopfitting and wood manufacturing industry. We are looking for a driven, hands-on and results-focused Factory Manager to lead a busy production facility and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced production professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has a strong background in shopfitting, joinery or wood manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all factory and production operations.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved in line with project deadlines.
- Coordinate workflow between Production, Supervisors, Project Managers, Procurement and Installation teams.
- Drive productivity, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor manufacturing costs, material usage, waste and supply chain efficiencies.
- Maintain exceptional quality control standards throughout production.
- Lead, mentor and manage factory staff, including performance management, training and development.
- Interpret technical drawings and ensure production requirements are accurately executed.
- Oversee material planning and procurement requirements.
- Manage factory machinery, equipment maintenance and overall operational readiness.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
- Resolve production challenges quickly and implement practical solutions.
- Assist in implementing systems and processes to improve overall factory performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or a related field (advantageous).
- 8–10 years' experience in a Factory or Production Management role.
- Essential: Previous experience within the Shopfitting, Joinery or Wood Manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Experience implementing and managing quality control systems.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- South African citizen.
