The Professional Nurse supports the evaluation of an AI-enabled clinical documentation tool by conducting transcription, verification and clinical validation of consultation data. The role focuses on ensuring that AI-generated clinical outputs accurately reflect patient consultations and meet required standards of clinical quality and safety. The position contributes to fidelity monitoring of the AI scribe by working with consultation recordings, transcripts and clinical notes. It does not involve routine clinical service delivery.
Technical Work Responsibilities
- Administrative duties.
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
- Compile clinical data and enter it into a database.
- Review and assess data collected.
- Transcribe consultation audio recordings accurately (Afrikaans, isiXhosa, English).
- Translate consultation content where required.
- Compare AI-generated transcripts with consultation audio recordings.
- Identify and document transcription errors, omissions, and translation inaccuracies.
- Review AI-generated SOAP notes against consultation recordings and transcripts.
- Validate clinical accuracy of diagnoses, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Flag clinically significant discrepancies or safety concerns in AI outputs.
- Apply standardised transcription, verification, and validation procedures (SOPs).
- Document findings using structured fidelity monitoring tools.
- Support data quality assurance processes for evaluation datasets.
- Collaborate with the technical evaluation team to ensure consistency in fidelity monitoring.
Education
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree.
- Registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
- Advanced diploma in Primary Health Care.
- Valid GCP certificate.
Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in PHC.
- Experience in clinical documentation review or audit.
- Experience working with multilingual clinical contexts (Afrikaans/isiXhosa).
- Ability to interpret clinical consultations and documentation (SOAP notes).
- Strong attention to detail for data verification and quality assurance.
Requirements
- Own car.
- Valid Driver’s license.

- Intermediate computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc.
