ROLE SUMMARY:

To adopt an aspirant view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be an active contributor amongst a dynamic team.
Consistently plan, prepare and present interesting and IEB aligned Visual Art lessons.
Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes deep learning.
To serve the community.
Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, and standards of work.
Consistently evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
Continuously seek professional development.
Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
Be actively engaged in the afternoon programme for a minimum of two afternoons per week.
Respond to e-mails and telephone messages within 24 hours.
Exemplify qualities of ‘good’, care, effort and kindness at all times.
To attend all occasions appropriate to the position.
To meet all appropriate timelines for action.
To be a Tutor teacher, ensuring effective pastoral care for a group of students.
Effectively set and mark assessments and all other forms of student evaluation.
Write informative report comments.
To undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head / Deputy Head of Academics fairly determine.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Lives Passion with a Plan applied over Time
Able to set clear expectations and stretching goals
Adaptable style that drives for high performance
Ability to judge learning effectiveness
Assessment of student outcomes to enhance performance
A minimum of three years’ experience Teaching Visual Arts at a FET level (Gr10 – 12)
Previous experience with the IEB programme
Confidence with use of ICT in teaching
Appropriate legal right to work in a South African school
University degree in an appropriate subject
SACE accreditation
A passion for the role of Educator
A deep understanding of Visual Arts
An unwavering commitment to the development of students
Excellent organiszational skills
Excellent communication skills
Proven ability to be a part of a team striving for growth and consistent improvement
An excellent classroom practitioner
