Job Purpose
To support the development, integration and deployment of web, portal and integrated applications. The Junior Full-Stack Developer will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, secure and fully performing systems in compliance with SDLC principles and the University’s standards.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Relevant National Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Systems
- At least two (2) years’ experience in software or web development
- Experience with structured software development practices and coding standards
- Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Working experience with PHP or Java
- Good understanding of front-end technologies: HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle
- Experience with Git/GitLab version control
- Experience with CMS platforms such as Joomla, WordPress or Drupal
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
- Understanding of SDLC and software testing principles
- Experience with Linux environments, Bootstrap, Laravel or similar frameworks will be advantageous
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain web, portal and integrated systems
- Participate in debugging, testing and peer code review activities
- Assist with system integration and troubleshooting
- Participate in SDLC activities including testing, troubleshooting and deployments
- Provide second-level system support
- Develop and maintain technical and user documentation
- Participate in innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate effectively within development and support teams
