SALES TEAM LEADER
About Us
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that sales team is actively managed, quotations are tracked, reporting is accurate, customer relationships are maintained, and sales processes are consistently executed across the business.
Purpose of the Role
To manage and improve the company's sales performance through structured pipeline management, sales administration, commercial reporting, customer engagement, tender coordination and leadership of the sales function.
The role is responsible for ensuring that opportunities are converted into revenue through disciplined follow-up, accurate reporting, effective customer management and strong internal coordination between Sales, Operations, Finance and Compliance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Lead and manage the sales team to achieve monthly and annual revenue targets.
- Monitor sales performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Drive new business development activities within target industries.
- Support sales representatives in securing strategic opportunities and key accounts.
- Assist with client negotiations, presentations and commercial discussions.
- Identify growth opportunities within existing customer accounts.
- Develop and implement sales plans and account development strategies.
- Ensure consistent sales activity levels across the team.
Sales Administration & Process Management
- Maintain full oversight of the sales pipeline from lead generation to conversion.
- Ensure all opportunities, quotations, customer interactions and follow-ups are accurately recorded.
- Monitor quotation turnaround times and conversion ratios.
- Implement and enforce sales processes, procedures and reporting standards.
- Manage customer databases, prospect lists and account records.
- Ensure proper document control and version management of commercial documentation.
- Track outstanding quotations and ensure systematic follow-up.
- Monitor sales team activity, call plans, customer visits and reporting compliance.
- Maintain sales dashboards and performance tracking systems.
- Training, upskilling and Management of sales team skills.
Commercial & Tender Management
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of quotations, proposals and tender documentation.
- Review commercial submissions for completeness, accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain tender registers and opportunity trackers.
- Monitor tender deadlines and submission requirements.
- Assist in pricing reviews and commercial evaluations.
- Support contract administration and customer onboarding processes.
- Maintain records of service agreements, pricing schedules and commercial correspondence.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly sales reports.
- Produce sales forecasts and revenue projections.
- Monitor pipeline value, conversion rates and sales activity levels.
- Analyse customer trends, market opportunities and lost sales.
- Track key performance indicators across the sales department.
- Present sales performance reports to management.
- Identify corrective actions where targets are not being achieved.
- Ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity.
Customer & Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
- Act as escalation point for major customer concerns and commercial matters.
- Conduct regular account reviews with strategic clients.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and retention.
- Ensure service delivery commitments align with customer expectations.
- Coordinate communication between customers and operational departments.
- Support long-term account development and contract retention.
Internal Coordination & Governance
- Work closely with Operations to ensure accurate service scoping and successful project delivery.
- Coordinate with Finance regarding pricing, invoicing concerns and customer account matters.
- Liaise with SHEQ and Compliance departments regarding customer requirements and contractual obligations.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, approval processes and commercial controls.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all customer and commercial matters.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Business Management, Marketing, Commerce or related field preferred.
- Additional sales, commercial management or project administration qualifications advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 5–10 years B2B sales experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience managing a sales team.
- Strong experience in sales administration and reporting.
- Experience managing quotations, tenders and customer accounts.
- Proven experience working with CRM systems and structured sales processes.
- Experience in industrial, technical, environmental, facilities, logistics or service-based industries preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- CRM systems and pipeline management tools.
- Sales reporting and forecasting.
- Commercial documentation and tender administration.
- Data analysis and KPI reporting.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to travel to customer sites when required.
- Strong administrative and organisational ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
