Full Job Description

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Buyer's Assistant to join our Retail team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Divisional Buying Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the division in all administrative functions linked to order processing and buy Plans.
Auditing availability, selection and pricing of market best sellers and new releases on the site.
Supporting on merchandising checks: Checking customer reviews, links and newsletters.
Managing customer queries and escalating as necessary.
Oversee day-to-day tasks such as managing stock levels, processing customer orders, handling stock classification, and addressing catalogue-related queries.
Resolve stock quality disputes and manage ad hoc issues related to stock, products, deliveries, and other retail operations.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive the success of the retail category.
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to pick up the phone and engage directly with stakeholders.
Be quick to react, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, and demonstrate a hands-on approach to ensuring smooth operations and effective problem-solving.

Qualification & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (Business Science or Commerce degree preferable).
At least 1-year related retail / commerce experience.
An Existing industry networks, a significant plus.
Competency in MS Office packages, particularly Excel.
Retail buying/e-commerce experience preferable but not an absolute requirement
At least 1-year related retail / commerce experience.

Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Solutions-oriented with a proactive, can-do attitude; self-motivated and driven.
Adaptable and comfortable with learning and using new systems.
Fast learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new software packages.
Willingness to learn new systems and expand knowledge in AI-related technologies.
Proficient in working with software tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Docs, with the ability to manage and navigate various digital platforms efficiently
