As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Group Internal Auditor to strengthen our risk management, internal control and governance.

Role Overview

The Senior Group Internal Auditor will play a key leadership role in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes across the Group. This role requires a proactive professional who can provide independent assurance, drive audit initiatives, and partner with senior management to improve business performance and compliance. The role reports functionally to the Audit & Risk Committee and administratively to the Group CFO, and requires regular travel to operations across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of the Group’s risk-based internal audit plan
Perform and oversee operational, financial, and compliance audits across multiple business units and functions
Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes
Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management and the Board/Audit Committee
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and internal policies
Track and report on the implementation of audit recommendations
Lead fraud risk assessments and investigations where necessary
Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies and tools

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional qualification (CIA, CA(SA), AGA(SA), ACCA or equivalent) preferred
Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in internal audit, risk advisory, or external audit, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or supervisory role
Strong knowledge of internal audit frameworks (e.g., IIA Standards), risk management, and corporate governance
Experience working in a group or multi-entity environment preferred
Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is advantageous.

Ability to influence decision-making at senior levels
Strong project management and organizational skills
Strong understanding of financial reporting, audit methodologies, and control frameworks

Application Systems

Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Syspro experience advantageous)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with audit tools and software (e.g. data analytics tools, audit management systems)
Understanding and practical use of data analytics and emerging technologies, including AI, in the audit process
