Senior Process Engineer (Gold)
Location - Woodmead
Primary Purpose (Role):
Process engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects within the gold sector. Applicants should have proven experience in processing plant operations, design, and commissioning. Management experience and a professional membership with SAIMM would be advantageous. Exposure to projects in South Africa and across the African region is essential.

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities)
Process Design and Engineering
-
Autonomously carry out innovative detailed process designs following good engineering practices
-
Ensure continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.

Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design).

Ensure (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is relevant and accurate.

Carry the responsibility for the engineering discipline sign-off.

Manage the mark-up and back draughting of redline drawings.
-
Provide design interface between disciplines including vendors and external entities.
-
Provide process inputs for studies and proposals.
-
Provide engineering support to the site team.

Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of process designs.

Perform technical investigation and reporting on that.

Proficient in analytical assessment of mineral process applications and effectively reporting on the analysis
Operational
-
Provide input into all SHE matters, actively participate and promote a total safety culture.

Ensure that relevant project procedures are complied with.

Take responsibility of all process engineering deliverables with a high level of accuracy and quality.

Manage the time schedule, quality, risk and scope of process deliverables and activities within the larger project or study.

Display effective management of time.

Ensure proper change management procedure is adhered to.

Ensure that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented.

Display proactive communication with the project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving.

Lead and/or assist with the process-related commissioning activities of the project, including legal appointments for commissioning activities.

Participate in the Total Safety Culture of DRA and site safety requirements.

Ensure that the installation is in accordance with the project & vendor specifications to provide for the expected process functionality.

Positive disposition towards expat commissioning requirements.

Lead and manage teams (example studies, investigations, test work programs).
-
Provide input and direction and manage process resourcing of studies and projects.

Peer review of design deliverables of the process engineers to ensure design quality and actively solve shortcomings in designs.
Client Relations / BD

Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in a professional and respectful manner.

Ensures that Clients are kept informed and up to date on the status of project technical aspects (external and internal).

Communicates with external and internal clients on the status of the project technical aspects.

Liaises and co-ordinates with the clients discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.

Develop and follow up on leads through personal networks and client interaction.

Ensures that DRA remains the client's engineering service provider of choice through continuous and informal marketing of DRA's capability.

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering Essential

Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer Advantageous
Experience

Mineral processing operations/management 7+ years Essential

Knowledge Areas

Worked within an EPCM/Mining environment Essential
