CLINICAL LECTURER (One post)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
-
Teaching and supervising clinical skills and simulations, relevant to the Schools of Medicine, Healthcare Sciences and Dentistry;
-
Participating in clinical skills assessment and remediation;
-
Updating course content and revising study guides relevant to modules presented by the division;
-
Maintaining the electronic learning environment;
-
Coordinate and manage all logistical aspects of teaching activities, including venue access, room and equipment preparation, class scheduling, and asset management.

Arrange training schedules with the Schools and allocate training resources accordingly;
-
Performing other academic duties that resides within the division;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
A Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care (Adult) - or Emergency Nursing,
-
At least one year experience teaching at a Higher Education Institution;
-
At least three-year experience in clinical preceptorship/facilitation;
-
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council;
-
At least one DHET accredited publication, preferably published in the last two years.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
-
Knowledge and skills in using task trainers, low- and high-fidelity manikins related to clinical skills and simulation training in medicine, healthcare sciences and dentistry.

Good verbal and written communication skills;
-
Good interpersonal and mentoring skills;
-
Good computer skills and command of especially Microsoft Office and Excel;
-
Proficient scientific writing skills.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
-
Experience working in a clinical skills and simulation environment;
-
Basic Life Support;
-
A valid driver’s licence.
The all-inclusive remuneration package for this contract position will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
