Information Integrity Communications Specialist
Requirements
- A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (preferably a
Postgraduate Degree) in Communications, Journalism or a
related field
- 5 to 8 years relevant experience in media analysis, journalism,
strategic communications, intelligence analysis or a related
environment
- Demonstrated exposure to complex information ecosystems
- Proficiency in MS Office.
Key Performance Areas
- Monitor, analyse, and assess the information environment in
order to identify emerging and potential misinformation,
disinformation and narrative risks affecting the City’s
reputation, public confidence, service delivery and/or
leadership credibility.
- Independently design, coordinate and implement evidence-
based response strategies to mitigate the spread and impact
of misinformation and disinformation affecting the City
- Provide specialist advisory input to senior management,
executives and other senior office-bearers on information
integrity risks, emerging reputational threats and appropriate
mitigation options.
- Contribute specialist information integrity expertise to the City’s
crisis communication and institutional resilience efforts during
high-risk and high-impact events.
- Generate analytical insights, reports and institutional
knowledge to inform management oversight, organisational
learning and strategic planning in respect of misinformation
and disinformation risks.
