Job Purpose:
To safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload building materials efficiently, supporting warehouse and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
● Operate forklifts to load and unload trucks, move stock within the warehouse, and organize materials safely.
● Ensure accurate placement and stacking of building materials (e.g., Tiles, Paints).
● Inspect forklifts and material handling equipment daily to ensure proper functioning and report defects.
● Adhere to warehouse safety regulations and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
● Assist warehouse staff with picking, packing, and inventory management as required.
● Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of forklift and assigned work areas.
● Follow standard operating procedures for handling hazardous or heavy materials.
● Assist with inventory counts, stock verification, and reporting discrepancies.
● Report accidents, damages, or unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
● Grade 10–12 (Matric preferred).
● Valid forklift operating certificate/license.
● Minimum 1–3 years’ experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, wholesale, or construction environment.
● Knowledge of safety regulations and warehouse procedures.
Skills and Competencies:
● Safe and efficient forklift operation.
● Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
● Understanding of warehouse safety standards.
● Reliability and punctuality.
● Teamwork and good communication skills.
● Ability to handle heavy materials safely.
