Job overview:
The purpose of this job will be to deliver an efficient and high standard of maintenance and general work in line with the company’s building requirements. The successful incumbent will undertake repair and maintenance work whilst conforming to the company’s health and safety standards.
Requirements:
· Matric/ Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification;
· Hospitality Industry Maintenance experience is an advantage;
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is an advantage;
· Must be highly organised and have excellent communication skills;
· Knowledge of plumbing, painting, electrical, tiling and paving;
· Computer literate;
· Must be prepared to work overtime, be on stand-by and be called on over weekends, if required.
Responsibilities:
· To undertake minor items of repair and maintenance, including minor repairs of fixtures and fittings;
· Responsible for all planned preventative maintenance on site, including but not limited to proactive and reactive work;
· Responsible for building maintenance (upkeep of building and surrounding areas);
· Must be able to assist with minor plumbing, including unblocking of drains and sinks etc;
· Must be able to assist with minor repairs where necessary;
· Must be able to assist with minor electrical repairs and fixings and maintain all electrical equipment on site.
· Must be physically able to perform duties required
· Ability to function independently, plan ahead (pro-active) and work in a team.
· Ability to adhere to safety standards.
· Ability to handle conflict and problem-solving situation.
· Perform routine building and equipment inspections according to respective checklist requirements
· Meet deadlines for planned preventative maintenance according to company SOP’s.
· Evaluate, find solutions and execute work independently to required standards and quality.
· Carry out delegated tasks timeously, meeting required deadlines and report back to manager on a daily basis.
· Train and mentor junior staff in technical skills, Health & Safety and industry protocols.
· Manage the maintenance stores and keep records and registers of all materials, tools and consumables, daily.
· Meet monthly deadlines for stock take and designated reports.
· Inspection of all facilities, utilities, fire equipment, plant and mechanical equipment, fill in check lists and reports according to SOP’s.
· Support and assist Maintenance Technicians in daily tasks and work independently when required
· Supervise sub-contractors and inspect work and make sure it is carried out to company’s quality and standards.
· Handle and operate general power tools, ladders, generators and hand tools competently.
