Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and trauma-informed Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team in an inpatient addiction treatment clinic. The successful candidate will provide psychological assessment, individual and group therapy, and contribute to integrated care planning for individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Work
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, including DSM-5 diagnostic formulation.
- Deliver individual psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, or trauma-informed modalities.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process-oriented groups focusing on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and interpersonal dynamics.
- Provide crisis intervention support when needed (e.g., suicidal ideation, emotional dysregulation, acute grief).
- Monitor client progress and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Participate in case reviews and collaborate with the full care team (psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, recovery assistant, art/drama therapist).
- Contribute to discharge planning, aftercare recommendations, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Liaise with systems social worker around family dynamics and support system challenges.
Documentation & Ethics
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Engage in ethical decision-making in line with HPCSA guidelines and addiction treatment protocols, and clinic policies.
Administration
- Assist with administration and processes related to providing additional support and care to clients.
- Assist with administration and processes related to client discharge when needed.
- Skilled in working with technology (online clinical records, PowerPoint presentations, etc.)
- Utilizing an online system for client files and completing all the necessary documentation applicable to each client’s treatment process.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
- Registered with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist (current and in good standing)
- At least 2 years of experience working in addiction treatment or a related mental health setting preferred
- Experience in dual diagnosis management and trauma-informed care
- Skilled in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing
- Excellent group facilitation and communication skills
- Comfortable working with youth clients.

- Experience working with Neurodevelopmental conditions
- Ability to remain calm and responsive during crises

- Experience in working with families and systems-based approaches
- Rapid problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with resistant, sensitive, or disagreeable client profiles
- A higher score on Extroversion a plus but not essential
