The finpx team is a specialist financial modelling and analytics unit operating within a broader consulting organisation. While employment sits within the wider organisation, successful candidates work day-to-day within the finpx team, supporting client engagements that combine structured financial analysis, strategic discussion, and decision-support modelling.
The team develops mathematically grounded financial models and visual frameworks used to evaluate business plans, test management assumptions, and support executive-level decision-making. This role is designed for a client-facing professional who will prioritise engagement, structured information processing, and strategic dialogue, while developing a strong working understanding of the finpx modelling framework
Model Development & Interpretation
- Develop and apply a strong working understanding of the finpx modelling framework and its underlying mathematical and statistical logic.
- Develop statistical inference models that measure the progress of clients' financial plans against targets.
- Interpret modelling outputs to support technical report writing, and evaluate models/forecasts for statistical and logical consistency.
Strategic Discussion & Client Engagement
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, and strategy sessions, including identifying patterns in technical analysis.
- Translate analytical and statistical inputs into realistic, actionable investment and strategic recommendations.
- Explain modelling assumptions, outputs, and implications clearly and confidently to clients and internal stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to business plans, projections, and evaluation of strategic alternatives.
Research & Analytical Support
- Conduct targeted research into industry trends, financial benchmarks, and regulatory considerations relevant to engagements.
- Contribute logically supported argumentation to report drafting.
Financial & Accounting Contribution
- Review financial statements and forecasts for logical consistency.
- Contribute to financial and accounting analysis where required, liaising with the engagement team.
- Support preparation of client reports and visual outputs.
Risk, Investment & Specialised Contexts
- Apply statistical/actuarial methods to investment and risk-management questions raised in client engagements.
- Where relevant, provide quantitative/risk input on business rescue and entrepreneurial-portfolio engagements.
Qualifications
- At minimum a four year degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 2–5 years' experience in a quantitatively demanding field — engineering, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, quantitative finance — or equivalent experience in financial/business analysis with demonstrated strong numerical ability
- Comfortable working across small, scalable, and large company contexts.
- Strong data literacy and ability to identify patterns/outliers in financial and statistical information
Pay: R30 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
