ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations & Support, the key function of this role will be maintaining and growing the Microsoft 365 environment and platform.
Staying current and building knowledge of this platform will be key as will working with stakeholders to ensure the other departments within OES can maximise the technology successfully.
This role will be an escalation point for second and third-level support queries from the Desktop Team, with a particular focus on any Microsoft 365 queries. Furthermore, the position will work with and support the Senior M365 Engineer to implement approved projects across the M365 Platform.
In addition, the Microsoft Cloud Engineer will work in collaboration with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support our growing Azure footprint and with the Cyber Security Analyst to maintain our internal Windows systems and build on our current Security Operations practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of the Azure and M365 environments.
- Implement and maintain security best practices for both Azure and M365.
- Keeping abreast of new features and changes in the ever-evolving M365 Platform
- Being the escalation point for internal Desktop Support queries, assisting Desktop Support members with escalated tickets.
- Ensure complex incidents and requests are escalated to relevant members within the greater IT Team, University partners or third-party technical staff.
- Identify opportunities and process improvements to increase first-level resolution and drive customer satisfaction.
- Supporting the Senior M365 Engineer to implement approved projects.
- Supporting the Security Team with the delivery of Security Operations with a focus on the M365 platform
- Assist in the development of established procedures and guidelines in place within IT.
- Be unequivocally customer focused.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Overall tech working experience of 3-5 working experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience as an MS Engineer supporting the M365 platform
- Proven expertise in native Microsoft 365 & Azure platforms including but not limited to Exchange Administration, Entra Identity Management, Defender for 365, Azure Information Protection, Single Sign-on, MFA, Conditional access policies
- A good understanding of Microsoft Endpoint Management & Deployment knowledge (Intune, AutoPilot)
- A good understanding of the core Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint ecosystems
- Experience in an ITIL-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment and under time pressure.
- Proven documentation skills, along with sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work in situations of uncertainty and ambiguity, be self-motivated and able to use initiative.
- Industry recognised IT certifications or qualifications will be highly regarded
