We are seeking an experienced L2 Infrastructure Database Administrator with strong MongoDB operational expertise to support and maintain mission-critical database platforms in a 24×7 production environment.
The role focuses on database reliability, performance, security, and availability, with responsibility for incident resolution, tuning, upgrades, and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor database activity, capacity, and resource utilization to ensure availability and performance of production systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents, including performance degradation, data access issues, and availability failures.
- Perform query and system performance tuning, recommending and implementing optimizations to improve response times and stability.
- Design, implement, and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions for MongoDB.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities with minimal downtime.
- Implement and enforce database security controls, access restrictions, and data protection policies.
- Monitor security advisories and apply patches to address vulnerabilities.
- Support backup and recovery strategies, including testing and validation of recovery scenarios.
- Review and approve database-related design changes to ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Integrate databases with commercial off-the-shelf and open-source applications, resolving compatibility issues.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes using standard enterprise tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to junior team members and contribute to operational best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on operational experience as a MongoDB DBA in production environments.
- Strong experience with MongoDB administration, including:
- High availability and replication
- Backup and recovery
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Solid understanding of database design and server infrastructure.
- Experience working in Linux and Unix environments (Windows exposure advantageous).
- General understanding of information security principles related to databases.
- Experience working within ITIL / quality-driven operational environments.
